BOAT BROKERAGE

The most common complaint I hear about boat brokers from sellers is that they don't work hard enough to deserve their commission. From buyers, the most common gripe is that many brokers are not very truthful or trustworthy. As a neutral observer, what I see are absentee owners listing their boat with a broker who only charges a commission if the boat sells, but then just sits back and waits for that to happen. Too often the boat isn't listed anywhere, or at least not in an appropriate market, and it falls into disrepair. Selling a dirty boat that is obviously neglected and too often won't even crank is a sure way to get the absolute minimum price - if a buyer finally stumbles onto it.

List your boat with M*Sea*2, and we will conduct an onboard interview before signing a contract. I want to know the truth about the boat, I want to run it, and I want to check it out thoroughly. I will not lie to a potential buyer, and I need to be able to give truthful answers to questions they are sure to ask. We will help you arrive at a fair and reasonable price range, and decide where best to advertise it. We will keep the boat washed and ready to run - batteries charged, sufficient fuel, safety equipment up to date - so that a serious buyer can take at least a short ride before committing to a full sea trial. If repairs are needed, we can help you arrange to have them done, or disclose the problem to buyers up front if you do not wish to make them. If you wish to charter the boat while it is listed, we will advise you on the necessary permits and insurance.

There is a monthly fee for listing with us, on the same scale as the BOAT WATCHER service. A clean boat, ready to show and run, sells faster, and commands a better price. By maintaining fair and honest standards, buyers are more likely to trust M*Sea*2. It is a winning situation for all concerned.
